Although dental decay is largely preventable, it is still considered to be the most common, chronic infectious disease of children ages 5-17. It is impossible to completely avoid sugar in our diets, so a more realistic approach would be to consider incorporating a natural sweetener substitute, such as xylitol, into our daily lifestyle. The Five W’s of xylitol; the Who, What, Where, Why and When will become clear upon completion of this course. In addition, attendees will gain a greater appreciation for the many preventive and therapeutic benefits of xylitol.

s. She is active in her local component and state association. In addition, she is has authored and self-published a dental resource guidebook entitled, “Exploring Dental Hygiene, Finding the Hidden Rewards.” She is the Southwest Coast Regional Product Educator for Xlear (clear.) She has written many articles for various dental hygiene and health magazines. Her most recent articles are located in the April and May issues of the RDH Magazine.
